The tournament will take place at the Guy Cammarata Complex on Baker Street in West Roxbury on July 19. The championship game is scheduled to take place that Sunday, July 22. Parkway Little League last hosted a state championship in 1997.

“This is the first time that Parkway Little League will host the 9-10 year old State Finals and it is the perfect way to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Parkway Little League," said Joe Castellano via press release, president of Parkway Little League. "It will be a great chance for teams and communities from around the state to visit the West Roxbury and Roslindale area and play on the great fields we have at the Guy Cammarata Complex."

“We have been eager to host a state championship and we are thrilled that we were chosen after a very competitive process. Parkway Little League strives to add value to not just the Parkway community, but also the City of Boston. We believe these championship games will enable us to bring the City together to celebrate our neighborhoods and our national pastime,” said , the vice president of Parkway Little League.

Hopefully, some Parkway teams will be on the field, or even celebrating, come championship time this year. In 2008, the 12-year-old Parkway National team won the state championship and advanced to the regional finals in Connecticut. In 2010, the 9/10-year-old Parkway American team won the state championship. Not to be dismissed was this past summer, was the 9- and 10-year-olds making it to states again, but lost in the championship game.

And when other teams come into our neighborhood they will be facing a storied little league, as Parkway Little League has won seven state champions. In addition to 2010’s 9-10 year old state champions, Parkway teams won the 11/12-year-old state championship in 1968, 1970, 1993, 1995, 1996 and 2008.

“Parkway Little League’s tradition of great baseball is matched by its history of giving back to the community and we at Parkway Little League are eager to show off our community and our organization to the rest of the state. We are looking forward to July,” added Castellano.

“A big thanks goes out to everyone who helped make this happen, especially Mayor Thomas Menino, City Councilor John Connolly, State Representative Ed Coppinger and State Senator Mike Rush,” added Fitzgerald.

Parkway Little League is a chartered member of Little League International and has served the children and families of West Roxbury and Roslindale since 1952. The Guy Cammaratta Complex is located at 315 Baker Street in West Roxbury. For more information about Parkway Little League, click here
