Holy Name Youth Service Project Yard Sale on Saturday

The service group, which hopes to raise $4,000, is working with the Up & Out Project, which provides homeless families a fresh start in a place to call their own.

The Holy Name Youth Service Project is holding a yard sale, bake sale and car wash from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 12, at , Centre Street, West Roxbury. Proceeds from the event will be used to furnish and supply a new home for a deserving homeless family.

The service group, which hopes to raise $4,000, is working with the Up & Out Project, which provides homeless families a fresh start in a place to call their own. The family that is sponsored by the youth group is scheduled to move into their new home on May 19.

Donations of items to sell at the yard sale will be accepted from 6 p.m. Friday, May 11, to 9:30 a.m. Saturday,May 12, at Holy Name Parish Hall. Pick up of large items may be arranged by calling 617-596-2791 or by emailing HolyNameYouthServiceProject@gmail.com.

The group is also accepting items that can be used to furnish and supply the new home. Items needed include a new queen or double mattress set, three new twin bed mattress sets, a new microwave oven and a new toaster. Also needed are a sofa, dressers, lamps, table and chairs, complete dish set, glass ware, silverware, pots and pans, kitchen utensils, vacuum cleaner, chairs, coffee table, end tables and mirrors.

The group is also seeking cash donations. Checks should be made out to the Holy Name Youth Service Project or HNYSP.
