School Registration

The registration period is open, and continues through Jan. 31, for new to Boston Public Schools applicants for Kindergarten as well as students heading to grades 6 or 9. "All other new-to-BPS applicants should register in the second registration period in February. School assignments are made using our lottery system after each registration period ends, so it doesn't matter when you register within a particular period -- it's not first-come first-served and everyone has the same opportunities as long as they register within the correct period." Find out schedules, and school choices here.

MLK Commemoration Concert

On Saturday, Jan. 18, JP CONCERTS presents the Boston Community Choir (BCC), at St. John's Episcopal Church in JP at 4 p.m.  "The Boston Community Choir has become well-known throughout the Boston area for its inspired and uplifting performances in many profiled concerts including an annual performance with the Boston Pops Orchestra. This performance commemorates Martin Luther King Day, and the second inauguration of President Barack Obama. Tickets are $10 at the door.

The stage is set this week to unveil more than 500 new vehicles at this year's annual New England International Auto Show, happening at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center Jan. 16-20.
