Boston to Hold Hazardous Waste Drop-Off in West Roxbury Saturday

Drop-off is free of charge, but individuals must present proof of residency.

Boston residents looking to get rid of hazardous chemicals lying around can do so in West Roxbury on Saturday. 

Residents can bring up to 50 pounds of products labeled as toxic, flammable, reactive, corrosive or poisonous, according to city officials. 

The Household Hazardous Waste Drop Off Day will run from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 28 at the West Roxbury Public Works Yard at Millennium Park, 315 Gardner St.

A list of chemicals that can and cannot be dropped can be found below. The drop-off will include paper-shredding, as well.

Can be dropped off free of charge; proof of residency is required.

  • Oil-based paint
  • Motor Oil
  • Pesticides
  • Solvents
  • Glues
  • Bleach or ammonia-based cleaners
  • Weed killers
  • Photo chemicals
  • Pool chemicals
  • Tires
  • Propane tanks
  • Car batteries
  • Used motor oil

Commercial waste or electronics will not be accepted at the drop-off.
