Friends of Injured West Roxbury Teen Hold Their Very Own Fundraiser

The event was organized by Mark Delamere's friends as a way of holding their own fundraiser, according to a parent involved.

The Holy Name Youth Service Project will hold a youth fundraiser this Saturday night for Mark Delamere.

Delamere, a West Roxbury teenager, was left  paralyzed after a Arborway crash in September. He is member of the Holy Name parish.

Regina Riley, a family friend of the Delamere's and current freshman at Regis College said the event was organized by Mark’s friends as a way of holding their own fundraiser, different from the one coming up on Nov. 16.

"After the accident we were looking for ways to help and we thought we should get all our friends together to help and support him," Riley said.

The fundraiser will feature a Tommy Vee the Hypnotist and students, from 7-12th grade,  who attend will get the chance to be hypnotized, according to Kelly McDonough, a parent organizer of the event.

"If you attend the event and want to be hypnotized you will put your name in the hat," McDonough wrote in an announcement on Patch.  "We will pick names from the hat, and let Tommy do the rest."

Riley said the event can be attended by any of Mark's friends, despite age.  The College freshman who attended Boston Latin last year expects hundreds of students from various surrounding schools to attend.

"We have a Facebook event set up and we have kids Tweeting about it," she said.

The event will be held Saturday, November 9th from 8-11pm in Parish Hall.  The tickets are $20.. Drinks and snack will be available to purchase.

Tickets can be purchased by calling Riley at 617-816-9221 or Moira O'Brien, 617-959-7603
