Memorial Day Service Planned for Gardens at Gethsemane in West Roxbury

Boston Mayor Martin Walsh and other city and state officials will be at the event.

The Gardens at Gethsemane will host the 46th Annual Memorial Day Service on Monday, May 26, officials announced this week. 

The event will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Monday in the garden of Honor Veterans Corner, 670 Baker St. in West Roxbury.

Boston Mayor Martin Walsh will be among the guest speakers Monday, alongside Steve Kerrigan, President of the Massachusetts Military Heroes Fund; Cheryl Poppe, Deputy Secretary of the Veteran's Services for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts; State Sen. Mike Rush (D-West Roxbury), Chair of the Joint Committee on veterans and Federal Affairs; Francisco Urena, Commissioner of Veteran's Services for the city of Boston; and Steven Grossman, Treasurer for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

The U.S. Air Force Heritage of America Band will also perform Monday, and the West Roxbury VFW Post 2902 will conduct a ceremony at the Memorial Cannon from the USS Constitution. 

Breakfast will be provided by the Gardens, according to the announcement.
