Michael McKie will attend Boston College in the fall.

Michael McKie of West Roxbury was honored as a scholar-athlete on May 14, 2012, at the Jack Grinold Eastern Massachusetts Chapter of the National Football Foundation. The annual dinner was held at Lombardo's in Randolph. McKie is a senior at Boston Latin School and will attend Boston College in September.

This is the first Catholic Conference championship for Catholic Memorial.

Catholic Memorial School's varsity lacrosse team made history on Tuesday night, capturing the program's first Catholic Conference championship with a 9-8 win over BC High. For Coach Kevin Lynch and the 11-3 Knights, four regular season games remain before a postseason where they hope to make even more history. Going into the May 8 matchup, the team heard that St. John's Prep had lost to Xaverian earlier in the day, meaning the conference crown was theirs for the taking. "Hearing that news definitely helped motivate them," said Coach Lynch, "and they executed." Despite the win, Lynch was equanimous. "I congratulated them. They did make history. Red Sox owner Larry Lucchino visited Boston's City Council today to accept the council's declaration making April 25 Fenway Park Day in Boston. While there, he thanked the team's "intense" fan base along with dedicated city and state officials for making the ownership's work on the park possible.

At today's Boston City Council meeting, the council will declare today to be Fenway Park Day in the City of Boston. “In 100 years, I hope a celebration like this is happening again,” said Boston City Council President Stephen Murphy, referring to the 100th birthday celebration of Fenway Park on April 20.
