Forget the Former, The Truezoos and The President take center stage at The Harp in Boston.

  Local musicians rocked The Harp in Boston Thursday night in Patch's Battle of the Bands finale showcase. Fans joined band members and the Patch family for an evening of free live music from contest runners up, Forget the Former and The Truezoos, as well contest winner, The President. The concert capped off the Battle of the Bands competition, which kicked off in March with three regional competitions and continued with the final round, which was won by The President, a Wakefield rapper, who captivated the crowd Thursday with an hour-plus set at The Harp.

Patch Battle of the Bands Concert is Tonight

Local musicians voted by Patch readers play The Harp in Boston -- and you're invited.

  It’s been months in the making, but the Patch Battle of the Bands concert is finally here in Boston tonight! Tonight, local musicians voted by you will perform at The Harp in Boston. The winner of our Battle of the Bands Contest, The President, will hit the stage after contest runners up The Truezoos and Forget the Former start the night off with their own sets. The President, aka Nicholas Kermelewicz of Wakefield, was the top vote getter in our contest. The contest kicked off with a call for videos in February. Twenty-four bands and musicians squared off in three separate regional contests: Greater Boston, North Shore/Merrimack Valley and South Shore/Cape Cod and the Islands. Meet 'The President,' An Up and Coming Rap Artist with a Positive Message

The winner of Patch's "Battle of the Bands" is recording artist and Wakefield resident Nick Kermelewicz, who is looking to make it big in the local music scene.

"If you don't like the way you're living, you can change that," raps Wakefield resident Nick Kermelewicz, known in the Boston music scene as The President.  And he means it. A self-made musician, Kermelewicz, 21, is the winner of Patch's "Battle of the Bands," contest, the month-long competition that pitted local acts against one another and looked to the community to pick the top act.  But Kermelewicz, who grew up north of Boston in Chelsea, MA, is no stranger to success. He has already started his own production company called Jotdown Entertainment, and is now looking to make it as a recording artist.  "I’ve just built myself up from my mom’s basement," he said. "I produce about 75 percent of my own music, and I work with a producer out …

The President featuring L.E.S White is the winner of the Patch Video Battle of the Bands. The President featuring L.E.S White was the top vote-getter in the final round of the Battle of The Bands beating BlackLight SunRise, DCLA (Dukes County Love Affair), The Truezoos, Forget the Former, and Scotty and the Gang. The President featuring L.E.S White’s “You Can Change That” featured Nicholas Kermelewicz of Wakefield and picked up 379 votes out of the approximately 1,000 votes cast by Patch readers over the two weeks of the final round. Twenty-four submissions are now down to six finalists competing to take the top prize in Patch's Video Battle of the Bands. Six bands and individuals, ranging the gamut from rock to rap, square off to see who will win the grand prize, which includes headlining a show at the Harp in Boston in June. The top two vote getters from each regional competition who are now in the finals are: BlackLight SunRise and DCLA (Dukes County Love Affair) from the South Shore/Cape Cod and the Islands regional round. Video Battle of the Bands: Greater Boston Winners

The President featuring L.E.S White and Scotty and the Gang move on to the final round.

The regional round of Patch's Video Battle of the Bands contest has ended, and we have our winners, with two bands moving on to the final round with a chance to win a rockstar prize pack! Winning first place is The President featuring L.E.S White -- "You Can Change That," with band member Nicholas Kermelewicz of Wakefield. The President wins two hours of recording time at Oak Grove Recording in Malden. Coming in second place is Scotty and the Gang -- "Free," with band members Dan Kendricksen, Matt Tagan, Eliot Carduff and Scott Clark, all of Melrose. Patch Video Battle of the Bands 2012 is here! More than 20 bands from across Eastern Massachusetts submitted videos of original songs over the past two weeks to multiple area Patch sites in hopes of taking home the top prize. First off is a regional round in which we pit bands and musicians from Greater Boston against one another. They will square off to win bragging rights in the area, a cool prize and a chance to go to the final round and win a rockstar prize pack! Video Battle of the Bands is Coming to Patch

Local bands should get their videos ready for April 9.

Patch will be starting collecting entries for our Video Battle of the Bands contest starting on April 9. The contest will pit bands from nearly three dozen communities in the South Shore, Cape Cod and the Islands, Greater Boston, the North Shore, and the Merrimack Valley. The contest will work this way: We’ll ask local bands to upload a video of themselves performing an original song starting on Monday, April 9. We’ll collect entries over two weeks. On Monday, April 23, we’ll kick off a regional competition across Eastern Massachusetts. Voters will be able to comment and tell us their favorites.
