Parkway Running Club Run Raises $318 for One Fund Boston

Runners were asked to voluntarily donate $5 during the Highland Hash Spring Fun Run. Every cent counts and helps a Boston Marathon victim.

  The Parkway Running Club raised $318 for the One Fund Boston through this past Thursday's Highland Hash Spring Fun Run. Runners were asked to donate $5 to One Fund Boston, which is going directly helping the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings. The runs are free for anyone, and et each Fun Run, participants meet at the venue where they can choose from either a 2.5-mile or 5-mile route. Thursday's started at Blanchard's in West Roxbury, and ends back at the venue with light appetizers and locally-brewed craft beer for 90 minutes following the run. Thanks again for coverage, David. Per John & Dorothy Govoni at the Parkway Running Club, PRC has raised another $825 on its own from Club members. Two Summer Drinks: Sweet Oceans and a Healthy Cocktail

Two summer drink recipes for you to feel like you're at the beach.

  Here are two fun and tasty cocktails that the staff of Blanchards like to make. One is inspired by summer fruits and staying as healthy as you can, and the other is for days you can't get to the beach.   As Healthy as a Cocktail Gets 1 bottles of Clifford Bay Sauvignon Blanc 1 Cup St. Germain 2 fresh peaches 6 fresh strawberries 6 fresh raspberries recommended but not needed: 1 bunch of white grapes  Stir ingredients in a pitcher or carafe. Blanchard's Voted Best Package Store in West Roxbury

Blanchard's and Gary's went down to the final wire in this week's Patch Readers' Choice Poll.

  So when Blanchard's Wine & Spirits wins contests do they cut into their own profit and open up a fine wine in celebration? Either way, West Roxbury Patch readers voted Blanchard's as the best package store in West Roxbury, in a tough fought battle against Gary's Liquors. Blanchard's netted 78 out of 170 total votes cast, for 45% of the vote. Gary's Liquors, which led going into Thursday only to lose by voting end today at 9 a.m., finished with 61 votes for 35%. Summer Cocktails Recipes From Blanchard's in West Roxbury

Blanchard's hosted a cocktail seminar that has become an annual summer tradition.

Tis the season of backyard barbecues, air conditioning and refreshing summertime drinks. Blanchard’s in West Roxbury celebrated the recent warm weather with its second annual cocktail seminar, held in the party room usually designated for wine tastings. The seminar, which was open to the public, was sponsored by Absolut vodka (click on link for more cocktail and drink recipes) and Malibu rum. Blanchard’s members received invitations via email to the event. Representatives from Aboslut and Malibu, respectively, led the gathering with cocktail trivia, a list of recipes, and batches of their own drinks served to the 18 tasters.
