January Home Goods Sale at Boomerangs in West Roxbury

All proceeds from Boomerangs supports the AIDS Action Committee.

  Boomerangs in West Roxbury is hosting its annual January Home Goods Sale. Boomerangs just got in some brand new inventory from famous name retail stores - with their original prices slashed. Towels, bedsheets, pillow cases and more. The sale started on Jan. 24.   Boomerangs is owned and operated by AIDS Action Committee of MA, which is New England's leading provider of HIV prevention and wellness services. All proceeds from Boomerangs support AIDS Action's work to prevent new infections, support those affected, and tackle the root causes of HIV/AIDS. Learn more at www.aac.org.

Emmanuel Church, Boomerangs Helping At-Risk Youth with Holiday Backpack Campaign

A Slow Tax-Free Saturday in West Roxbury

Few businesses reported much in increased activity at their shops.

While downtown Boston hustled and bustled with a clientele looking to save on taxes at major retail outlets, West Roxbury experienced a quiet tax-free Saturday. Business operators in the neighborhood offered different reasons for the slow day, but all acknowledged the same idea: tax-free weekend and West Roxbury may not make for a perfect fit this year. “Since Dedham and Boston are so close, it’s mostly Dedham and Boston with their big box stores that get the big sales,” theorized Aaron Thompson, co-owner of Wicked Sharp Ski & Sports Shop.
