Bostonians Shine Up Centre Street, Bellevue Hill in West Roxbury

This past weekend was Boston Shines so residents got down on their hands and knees, picked up waste bags, dug in deep, and cleaned up West Roxbury.

  This past weekend Boston Shines brought out residents across the city for organized spring clean-ups with West Roxbury focusing on the Centre Street business districtand Bellevue Hill area.  "We took care of the flower beds and side walks from the West Roxbury Pharmacy to the Real Deal," said Tricia Sheehan, with her son Danny, 11, (pictured). "Lots of sweeping and planting!  Sheehan added it was their second year volunteering for Boston Shines, and took pride in cleaning West Roxbury's main road, "We walk everywhere in West Roxbury... We know the stretch of Centre Street from City Lock to Holy Name like the back of our hand!"   Residents met at 8:30 a.m. at the Hastings Street parking lot and then dispersed into the Centre Street …

Help Boston Shines Today in West Roxbury

Volunteer, say hello, say thank you, to at least two Boston Shines groups cleaning up West Roxbury today.

  This weekend is Boston Shines, with two big spring clean-ups happening in West Roxbury - and you can still help today! There will be a clean-up of the Centre Street business district today (Sat. April 27). Be at the corner of Hastings and Centre streets at 8:30 a.m. sharp to determine how you can help. Light refreshments will be available. Please wear proper attire. This cleanup is going until 2:30 p.m., but volunteering for a shorter time is possible.  Also the annual Bellevue Hill Improvement Association Spring Clean-up is on Saturday. Volunteer to clean up trash, light debris only (no heavy lifting) within the Bellevue Hill section of Stony Brook Reservation. T-shirts, work gloves, and trash bags will be provided. The students of the Ohrenberger Community Center cleaned up on Friday for Boston Shines and had a good time, too!

  Students of the Ohrenberger Community Center cleaned up the school's grounds on Friday and had a pretty good time, too! The Mayor's Office of Neighborhood Services provided free Boston Shines t-shirts, tools and supplies.

This past weekend was the 'Boston Shines' citywide cleanup, with multiple cleanups around the West Roxbury area.

  Boston is shining brighter today thanks to this past weekend's citywide Boston Shines cleanup. There were several West Roxbury cleanups on Saturday, with residents having options of helping out at Millennium Park, the Bellevue Hill area, and Centre Street. West Roxbury Cleanups for 'Boston Shines' This Weekend

Volunteers are welcome at all of the scheduled neighborhood cleanups.

  West Roxbury is really going to shine after this weekend thanks to several scheduled Boston Shines cleanups in the neighborhood. The 10th Annual Boston Shines is happening around Boston neighborhoods this weekend, specifically on Saturday in West Roxbury. Many groups and individuals have already registered to help make West Roxbury shine. The biggest cleanup is of Centre Street, and volunteers are welcome to show up on Saturday to get their hands dirty. "If you do not have a project in mind but would like to participate, please come down to the Hastings Street Municipal Lot," said Christopher Tracy, West Roxbury Coordinator of the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Services. Bellevue Hill Improvement Association Cleanup on Saturday

Boston Shines is this weekend, let's make West Roxbury shine!

  As a part of Boston Shines, the Bellevue Hill Improvement Association will be conducting a cleanup of the Stony Brook Park on Bellevue Hill this Saturday. The cleanup will start at 9 a.m. and go until noon. All those interested should plan to meet at the west side of the Bellevue Hill water tower by the steps leading up from Bellevue Hill Road.  Please plan on wearing proper cleanup attire, bring your own gloves and water bottle. Trash bags will be provided. Letter: Boston Shines on April 28 in West Roxbury - Who Wants to Help?

Many neighborhoods groups are volunteering to clean up West Roxbury, you can volunteer, too, to keep Boston shining.

  To the Editor, The 10th Annual Boston Shines is fast approaching and we are looking forward to having a tremendous turnout in West Roxbury! Many groups and individuals have already registered and committed to help make West Roxbury shine on the weekend of April 27 and 28.       If you do not have a project in mind but would like to participate, please come down to the Hastings Street Municipal Lot (corner of Hastings and Centre streets) on Sat., April 28 at 8:30 a.m. From there, we’ll provide t-shirts, gloves and tools and spruce up Centre Street! State Senator Mike Rush will provide coffee and donuts and state Rep.
