Boston is making it easier for residents to build decks, sheds and pools this spring and summer. Boston Mayor Thomas Menino announced the Inspectional Services Department (ISD) has started a “Summer Fast Track Program” to expedite the permitting process for summer home improvement projects. Home project permits for swimming pools, backyard sheds, or ground-level open decks in owner-occupied homes that are one-, two-, or three-family dwellings, are guaranteed to be reviewed within seven days, said City officials. But this will not be a free-for-all, as all permit applications still require a licensed contractor and/or homeowner waiver.
