  Opening Day for the Parkway Girls Softball League took place on Sunday, April 14 with two games being played at Hynes Field. The U-13 Orioles, which won the PGSL Championship last year, defeated the Chickadees, 16-4. In the U-10 league, the Magic Cats beat the Her-ricanes, 12-0. Boston Bandits Softball Tryouts - Aug. 27-30

The Boston Bandits are the summer tournament teams for the Parkway Girls Softball League.

  The Boston Bandits are the Junior Olympic summer tournament teams that represent Parkway Girls Softball League. After a successful 2012 season, it is time to look ahead to next year. The Bandits will be holding tryouts for the 2012 season over the week of August 27-30. The Bandits field teams in the U10, U12, U14 and U16 age divisions that play in four to six highly competitive tournaments throughout New England during the course of the summer. Depending upon the number of qualified interested players and coaches, a second team may be added to any of the age divisions. Photos: Parkway Girls Softball League's Championship Teams

The Cougars, Orioles, and Magic Cats, won their respective age divisions for the 2012 season.

  The Parkway Girls Softball League crowned three champions for its spring 2012 season. The Cougars won the U-18 age division, the Orioles won the U-13 division, and hte Magic Cats won the U-10 age division. For more on the Parkway Girls Softball League, check out its website here.

Mayor Menino & Parkway Girls Softball League's Opening Day

Sunday's Opening Day featured three games and lots of fun.

  The Parkway Girls Softball League's Opening Day was on Sunday.  Boston Mayor Thomas Menino attended the day, which featured three games, a DJ, games, facepainting, food and fun. Parkway Girls Softball League's 6th Opening Day on Sunday

Sunday's Opening Day festivities will include three softball games, plus food and drink, face painting, balloons, a DJ, a moon bounce and a Red Sox ticket raffle. The celebration starts at 10 a.m. at Billings Field.

  The Parkway Girls Softball League's 6th Annual Opening Day Celebration is scheduled for Sunday. PGSL's Opening Day will start at 10 a.m. at Billings Field and go until the last pitch, or 4 p.m., whichever comes first.    The day will feature three PGSL league games, food and drinks, facepainting, balloons, a DJ, a moonbounce, and a Red Sox ticket raffle. At 10 a.m. the Blue Jays will face the Chickadees; followed by the Beantown Barracudas versus the Her-ricanes at noon; and the 2 p.m. game features the Ravens against the Starlings.  All league players, families, and friends are invited to attend, and all players are encouraged to wear their team uniform.
