The pucks were flying, the sticks were slapping, and the kids had a ball at the 6th annual Shamrock Shootout in West Roxbury.

The sixth year of the neighborhood tradition was a sunny day with plenty of racing fun.
On Saturday was the sixth year of the Perham Street Soap Box Derby Races. Children raced down the end of Perham Street three at a time in different age divisions. West Roxbury's Paul Treseler and family visited the Tall Ships and snapped these photos.
West Roxbury resident Paul Treseler took advantage of the last couple of days of the Tall Ships by visiting them several times. He was there when they came into Boston on Saturday. Said Treseler, "I was out on the wall of Fort Strong on Long Island to catch these." On Sunday, he and his family went out on a harbor boat, and visited Arc Gloria, the Colombian Tall Ship. His boat shots were taken from South Boston.

Parkway girls delivered two big penalty kicks to win tough single elimination tournament.
The Parkway Girls U-12 team won the President's Cup Tournament Championship this past weekend in a heart-wrenching game that couldn't be settled after two five-minute overtimes. The Parkway girls ended up winning on penalty kicks in Medfield, in the tough single elimination bracketed tourney. Facing the Milford-Hopedale Renegades, Parkway scored four minutes remaining in the first half, said Coach Joe Sullivan. The Renegades would tie the score in the second half, and it would remain tied until the penalty kicks, when Parkway won, 2-0. Said Coach Joe Sullivan, "We began the tournament against Wayland and won 4-0. Next up was Wellesley and we won 5-1. We then played Cambridge and we won 4-0." No, they didn't win, but they ran the 2012 Boston Marathon! Congratulations!
The Parkway Running Club had 35 members run Monday's Boston Marathon. The Club met at the West Roxbury YMCA at 6:30 a.m. and headed to the starting line in Hopkinton. Club members who were not running the marathon volunteered at a water stop in Cleveland Circle in Brookline. West Roxbury resident Paul Treseler took these photos.
