The RMV has discontinued the service because the company that provided the reminders was sold.
Five years after the Registry of Motor Vehicles did away with snail mail license expiration reminders, Massachusetts drivers will now find that the email version is gone as well. The RMV has done away with email reminders which service drivers whose licenses are about to expire, according to CBS Local. The RMV stopped mailing reminders in November 2008. The company that provided the service was recently sold, according to the story. The Massachusetts Department of Transportation is looking into restoring the free service and alternative reminder methods, the story says.

The employee was the subject of a 20-month federal investigation.
Federal and state investigators arrested a Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles employee today for allegedly defrauding illegal aliens. Adriana Ferreira, 48, a naturalized U.S. citizen, was arrested in Watertown Friday morning and charged with “numerous violations of Massachusetts law,” including corruption, bribery and larceny, according to a statement released by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement office. "The investigation revealed that Ferreira was using her position at the RMV to defraud illegal aliens," the statement says. Illegal aliens were led to believe they would receive driver’s licenses for a $2,000 fee, according to the statement. Illegal aliens never received driver’s licenses from Ferreira or the RMV. …

Streamlining several "antiquated and redundant" telephone systems under one area code and exchange will save taxpayers about $422,000, according to Secretary of Transportation Richard Davey. The new series of numbers, which all begin with 857-DOT, is under way at several transportation sub-agencies. A major change took effect Wednesday when the main customer service line at the Registry of Motor Vehicles became 857-DOT-8000. Drivers can use that number to get information on licenses, citations and road tests. It will even tell you the wait times at the nearest RMV. The closest RMV to West Roxbury is in Roslindale Village at 4210 …
