Marino's Deli is a new entry to the food options on Centre Street - what do you think of the new business?
Marino's Deli opened recently at 1906 Centre Street, in the middle of Centre Street's busy commercial district - so what do you think of Marino's Deli? The Centre Street location is the second Marino's Deli in the neighborhood, with the first at 1245 VFW Parkway in recent years. Could you see it turning into a chain and opening in more locations? Marino's Deli's website advertises "It's NOT just a deli!" Is it more than just a deli? How are the sandwiches? How's the service? The sandwich of the month is, rightfully so, the Turkey Gobbler. How is it? Let us know what you think of the new business in the comments section below.

Wicked Sharp Ski & Sports led the drive, with the St. Theresa's community and Irish Social Club pitching in to aid Hurricane Sandy victims.
Boxes and bags of Luvs, Pampers, bottles of water, sweaters, sweatshirts, hats and more were piled on tables at the Irish Social Club on Monday afternoon. Volunteers like West Roxbury's Thomas Bergeron brought in bag after bag of donations raised by the Wicked Sharp Ski & Sports Hurricane Sandy Relief Drive in the last week. Said Bergeron (who heard about volunteering through a West Roxbury Patch tweet about volunteers being needed) spoke about why he came down to help. "We definitely wanted to donate our time because we didn't get hit hard, but we know people who did." Bergeron added he has family in Long Island, NY, who were affected by Hurricane Sandy. West Roxbury's Jocelyn Bourgault (who also heard about volunteers being needed …

Wicked Sharp Ski & Sports got the ball rolling, and St. Theresa's joined in, and help is needed to load the truck full of supplies today at 1 p.m.
Editor's note: 12:15 p.m. This just came across my email - but volunteers are needed at 1 p.m. today to help load the truck with Hurricane Sandy relief drive items. JP Bedard and Aaron Thompson from Wicked Sharp Ski & Sports organized a Hurricane Sandy Relief Aid drive, and need volunteers at 1 p.m. to go to the Irish Social Club at 119 Park Street in West Roxbury, to help load the truck headed to New Jersey. The truck is being provided by Viridian Energy, and is going to Garfield, New Jersey with community donations for those suffering the effects of Hurricane Sandy. If you are able to go, just get yourself down there. Any help, no matter how big or small, is appreciated.

Sixteen entrepreneurs have taken a chance on West Roxbury in the last two years, and their success is a testament to the vitality of our community.
I have a simple but powerful message: the people of West Roxbury support local business. Since the beginning of 2011, 16 new businesses have opened along Centre and Spring streets - an astounding number considering the current economy. Shop and restaurant owners come to our neighborhood because they know you will shop local. The numbers tell the story: West Roxbury Main Streets is one of 20 Main Streets districts across the City of Boston, and is one of the largest district by area and by number of businesses (more than 200). But we also have the lowest number of vacancies, at 5. Think about that. West Roxbury has been home to a neighborhood downtown renewal for the better part of a decade, since neighborhood anchors like Roche Bros., …

The Club now needs to get approval from the Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission and then the license will be restored.
There appears to be one last hurdle for the Irish Social Club of Boston to get back their full all-alcohol license restored after Boston's Licensing Board approved the license on Wednesday. The last hurdle is for the Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission to approve the license, which is expected to take anywhere from six to 13 weeks. The club has been using one night special licenses for all its events after a member mistakenly gave back the extremely valuable all alcohol license for the club. The club was going to close last year, but was saved by the community, and has enjoyed a revitalization as a spot for local events.

Donning Top It Off and Fabutique apparel, models strutted their stuff down Spring Street as West Roxbury made its nightly commute past the sidewalk runway.
Models strutted down a red carpet on Spring Street's sidewalk in Top It Off and Fabutique garb as the 36 bus passed by on Thursday night. Commuters honked horns and rubbernecked to get a glance of the spectacle - the first (and hopefully annual) Fashion Mob Fairview Corner Fashion Show. More than 100 people lined against the commercial stores on the stretch of 162 to 170 Spring Street while trendy tunes from Justin Timberlake, Usher and Rihanna provided the soundtrack. Among the crowd was Raffaella Thomas, "I think it's great. They should have more of these. It gets people to shop." In Thomas' hand was a shopping bag with a newly purchased item from Top It Off inside. "It's better than a dream!" said Shirley Walsh, owner of Kalembar Dune…
