Patch: What's your favorite item at The Real Deal Deli? Battite: All of the paninis. Recently we have switched the bread we use for those to a Rosemary/olive oil foccacia that is light and crispy on the outside and airy and soft in the middle. A great new addition to our bread line. The Real Deal Wins Readers' Choice Best Sandwich in West Roxbury

The Real Deal Deli ran away with the sandwich competition getting more than 50% of the vote.

  The Real Deal Deli ran away this week's Best of Patch Readers' Choice poll - asking what restaurant serves the best sandwich in West Roxbury? The Real Deal ate up 53 of the 102 total votes like one of the deli's filling sandwiches, and took home 51% of the vote. Coming in a distant second was the Corrib Pub with 12 total votes, or 11% of the vote; and Panera got 11 votes for 10% of the total vote. There will also several good write-in options, including Marino's and Gary's Liquors deli counter. So don't forget about those two places the next time you want a good sandwich. On Monday, the Patch Readers' Choice poll will ask you - where do you go in West Roxbury to have your taxes done in the last minute?

Burger Wars! Nine West Roxbury Restaurants Competing in Two-Week Contest

Prices of burgers vary, and $1 of each burger sold will go to fund West Roxbury Main Streets' community revitalization efforts.

Starting on March 5th, you will be able to eat nine tasty unique burgers while supporting West Roxbury Main Streets' community revitalization efforts.  WRMS' Burger Wars features nine West Roxbury restaurants, which have created special burgers for the two-week contest that starts on Monday. The participating businesses are: West on Centre, Masona Grill, Rox Diner, DeNo's, West Roxbury Pub, Red-Eyed Pig, Porter Cafe, The Real Deal, and West Napoli Cafe. Recipe: Heirloom Cherry Tomato Salad with Fresh Basil Vinaigrette

"This is a great summer salad using local heirloom tomatoes, which are perfect this time of year. Also, this a great way to use up some of that basil that's taking over many home gardens as well.
