Suffolk County District Attorney Dan Conley encouraged graduating seniors from West Roxbury Academy to pursue civil service jobs during his commencement speech at Northeastern University’s Matthews Arena on Monday. Boston Police arrested a juvenile male for possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute after his mother called the West Roxbury Academy to say she thought her son had left home with drugs. Around 10:03 a.m. on Feb. 13, a male juvenile was arrested and charged with possession with the intent to distribute a class D drug, and intent to distribute within a a school zone, according to a Boston Police report. The mother called the school around 7:30 a.m., and the assistant headmaster of West Roxbury Academy alerted the Boston Police officer assigned to the West Roxbury Education Complex, of a student possibly holding drugs. Youth from West Roxbury Academy joined more than 250 young people from across the Commonwealth to gather at the Massachusetts State House for a Kick Butts Day event to celebrate their role in reducing the influence of the tobacco industry in their communities. While at the State House the youth visited with lawmakers, attended a rally with United States Surgeon General Regina Benjamin, and a closing event with Massachusetts Department of Public Health Medical Director Dr. Lauren Smith.
