D.A. Conley Encourages Civil Service at West Roxbury Academy Graduation

"...no matter what we do or how we do it, the ability to help lies in each and every one of us," said District Attorney Dan Conley.

  Suffolk County District Attorney Dan Conley encouraged graduating seniors from West Roxbury Academy to pursue civil service jobs during his commencement speech at Northeastern University’s Matthews Arena on Monday. In front of 1,500 audience members, Conley urged seniors to “consider the nobility of service – service to your city, your nation, and your fellow men and women,” according to a press release. “You are going off into a world where a great deal of work needs to be done,” said Conley. “In the next few years, as you develop your interests and hone your skills, you’ll be in a position to take some of that work on as your own. West Roxbury Academy Student Charged with Intent to Distribute Weed After Mom Calls School

The following article is based on a Boston Police report, and where charges are mentioned it does not indicate a conviction.

  Boston Police arrested a juvenile male for possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute after his mother called the West Roxbury Academy to say she thought her son had left home with drugs. Around 10:03 a.m. on Feb. 13, a male juvenile was arrested and charged with possession with the intent to distribute a class D drug, and intent to distribute within a a school zone, according to a Boston Police report. The mother called the school around 7:30 a.m., and the assistant headmaster of West Roxbury Academy alerted the Boston Police officer assigned to the West Roxbury Education Complex, of a student possibly holding drugs.  With the officer present, the student was informed he would be searched. Youth From West Roxbury Academy Attend Kick Butts Day at State House

West Roxbury Academy is a member of The 84 Movement, which helps mobilize youth to take action to protect their communities from the influence of the tobacco industry.
