Boston's pubs have long been a part of the political scene through hosting ward meetings, celebration parties - all while offering some suds and soda.
Boston's pubs and politics have been meshed together for decades. Our Parkway pubs host ward meetings, events and celebration parties. In the Parkway area of Jamaica Plain, Roslindale, and West Roxbury, the three neighborhoods are individually unique but share a more intertwined history due to Boston City Council's District 6 encompassing J.P., West Roxbury and a bit of Roslindale, too. So what pubs should be a part of a hypothetical Parkway Political Pub Crawl? District 6 City Councilor Matt O'Malley got the ball rolling by recommending Doyle's Pub in J.P. to President Obama. O'Malley said he chose Doyle's - "...because it’s a great, old political pub." O'Malley suggested the following for a hypothetical pub crawl: having Doyle's, …

Boston City Councilor Matt O'Malley recommended Doyle's Pub in Jamaica Plain to the President of the Unites States of America.
It is a well-documented fact that President Barack Obama enjoys his beer. Remember how he squashed the Professor Henry Louis Gates arrest with a beer summit? Knowing that Obama likes his beer, District 6 Boston City Councilor Matt O'Malley recommended Doyle's Pub in Jamaica Plain to the President, when they met briefly at the White House's Christmas Party. Asked why he recommended Doyle's Pub in Jamaica Plain, O'Malley said, "Doyle’s - because it’s a great, old political pub." O'Malley told Patch he'd include West on Centre and The Corrib in an unplanned Parkway Political Pub Crawl. So what restaurant/pub in West Roxbury would you recommend to President Barack Obama? The local entity of Rotary International has a roster of 25 Parkway area business professionals involved in varied industries. Rotary has 1.2 million members dedicated to a "Service Above Self" with more than 34,000 clubs worldwide.
