Who wants to drive a truck full of Hurricane Sandy relief donations to New Jersey on Wednesday?
JP Bedard of Wicked Sharp Ski & Sports sent this email to West Roxbury Patch seeking volunteer drivers to bring Hurricane Sandy relief drive donations to New Jersey. "We are looking for a couple of people to drive to NJ with the donations... if they can do it they can contact Jim Hennigan at jim@jimhennigan.com or call him at 617-947-5265. We are looking to leave early on Wednesday around 4 or 5 a.m. so we miss the traffic and are back sometime early afternoon." Wicked Sharp Ski & Sports, the St. Theresa's community, as well as the Irish Social Club of Boston, all kicked into gear to run a relief drive for victims of Hurricane Sandy.

Wicked Sharp Ski & Sports led the drive, with the St. Theresa's community and Irish Social Club pitching in to aid Hurricane Sandy victims.
Boxes and bags of Luvs, Pampers, bottles of water, sweaters, sweatshirts, hats and more were piled on tables at the Irish Social Club on Monday afternoon. Volunteers like West Roxbury's Thomas Bergeron brought in bag after bag of donations raised by the Wicked Sharp Ski & Sports Hurricane Sandy Relief Drive in the last week. Said Bergeron (who heard about volunteering through a West Roxbury Patch tweet about volunteers being needed) spoke about why he came down to help. "We definitely wanted to donate our time because we didn't get hit hard, but we know people who did." Bergeron added he has family in Long Island, NY, who were affected by Hurricane Sandy. You can drop off supplies such as diapers, formula, socks, hats, jackets and more at Wicked Sharp this weekend at 1898 Centre Street in West Roxbury.
The owners of Wicked Sharp Ski & Sports are continuing their ways of helping others by running a relief drive to help those affected by Hurricane Sandy in New York and New Jersey. And with New York and New Jersey already getting snow, cold weather items are needed. Residents can drop off items (listed below) to Wicked Sharp at 1898 Centre Street this weekend. "We have decided to do a relief drive for New Jersey and New York residents affected by Hurricane Sandy. After seeing so many people living in their cars because there is nowhere else for them to go, we started thinking that we as a community could make a difference. A five-foot tall snowman on Centre Street?! What should his name be? And how come there's no Mrs. Snowman??
No, you were not hallucinating this past weekend when you saw a snowman on Centre Street. "We are at it again! This guy is almost 5 feet tall!" said JP Bedard, owner of Wicked Sharp Ski & Sports. But the snowman doesn't have a name - yet. Said Bedard, "The Snowman has arrived! We will be having a contest to name our snow man who comes out every Saturday during our winter season." His season debut was September 1. "Come down for a visit and hit us with some clever names!" said Bedard. "You can also email your cleverness to snowman@wickedsharp.com. Junior ski packages on sale for $99 at Centre Street business.
It hasn't snowed yet in West Roxbury, but there is a snowman on Centre Street, at least on the weekends. Meet Puddles the Snowman at Wicked Sharp Ski & Sports at 1898 Centre St. this weekend and for the next couple of weekends. Said co-owner Aaron Thompson of Puddles, "The kids love it! The parents do too." It's also a good time to save money on your skiiing needs. The store is offering a Junior Ski Package for $99, which includes skis and boots. Added Thompson, "We also just got ski/snowboard pants in, that was one item we didn’t carry last season." Also when you stop in feel free to float some ideas for what the store should put in their window as part of the Main Streets Holiday Window competition.
