Photos: Red Carpet Fashion Show at Fairview Corner

Models strutted down Spring Street styling and profiling in Top It Off and Fabutique jewelry, clothing and accessories.

From a trainwreck in 2010, to a red carpet fashion show with sexy models strutting Spring Street in the newest spring and summer fashions. In a nutsheel, that's the three-year turnaround of Fairview Corner in West Roxbury. Back in 2010, Kalembar Dune owner Shirley Walsh bought the block of stores she has since named Fairview Corner.  Kalembar Dune had been in business on the block since 2005. "In 2010 there was just the barber shop, and a real estate office. It was a trainwreck before," said Walsh, before the second Fairview Corner Fashion Show on Thursday night. The first one took place in November last year. She added, "I'm so excited. It's like when your kids come home with straight A's on their report card." Since Walsh's acquisition…

Preview: Red Carpet Fashion Show on Spring Street on Thursday

Stylish models will strut Spring Street showing off the latest fashions from Top It Off, Fabutique, while making Fairview Corner the coolest place to be on Thursday night.

No, you won't be hallucinating on Thursday night when you see sexy models strutting down a red carpet on Spring Street in West Roxbury. The ladies of Fairview Corner are holding a fashion mob sidewalk show. Last year's Fashion Mob was a roaring success -- and Thursday's event from 6 to 9 p.m., with the show starting at 7 -- will surely top its predecessor. "You can expect to see the hottest trends of the season strut the red carpet, from color and lace to the perfect sun dresses and havianas!" said Marika Gaurenszky, owner of Fabutique. "The Fashion Mob is back and better than ever. Top It Off kicks off spring and summer with its fabulous color stories from head-to-toe," said Ashley Boiardi, retail manager for Top It Off. "The ever …

Photos: Fashion Mob Fairview Corner Fashion Show!

Donning Top It Off and Fabutique apparel, models strutted their stuff down Spring Street as West Roxbury made its nightly commute past the sidewalk runway.

Models strutted down a red carpet on Spring Street's sidewalk in Top It Off and Fabutique garb as the 36 bus passed by on Thursday night. Commuters honked horns and rubbernecked to get a glance of the spectacle - the first (and hopefully annual) Fashion Mob Fairview Corner Fashion Show. More than 100 people lined against the commercial stores on the stretch of 162 to 170 Spring Street while trendy tunes from Justin Timberlake, Usher and Rihanna provided the soundtrack. Among the crowd was Raffaella Thomas, "I think it's great. They should have more of these. It gets people to shop." In Thomas' hand was a shopping bag with a newly purchased item from Top It Off inside. "It's better than a dream!" said Shirley Walsh, owner of Kalembar Dune…

Fairview Corner Revitalized With Woman-Owned Businesses

New businesses Bella's Bargain Box and Fabutique have joined Top It Off and Kalembar Dune to bring new life to corner of Spring and Baker streets.

Editor's Note: The following is a press release. A once long neglected retail building at the corner of Spring and Baker Streets is now renewed and renamed. Fairview Corner is now the new home to several women-owned businesses. Fairview Corner has opened its doors with over 3,000 square feet of commercial space and ample customer parking in the rear of the building. Four of the structure’s five units are now occupied by female business owners with a focus on female customers. Building owner Shirley Walsh is excited to offer this unique space to the community. “Fairview Corner will not only bring new and fresh ideas to the block, it is bringing women together to thrive in business,” she said. Walsh adds that she is optimistic about …
