Blanchard's and Gary's went down to the final wire in this week's Patch Readers' Choice Poll.

Poll: What is the Best Package Store in West Roxbury?

A package store, a packy, liquor store, wines and spirits - what's the best place to buy alcohol in the neighborhood?

This week's West Roxbury Patch's Readers' Choice Poll is - what is the best package store in West Roxbury? Some people call them liquor stores, some people call them package stores, and some folks call them packies.  There are several respected options spread out through the neighborhood. The first three mentioned in this article offer more variety and options than the other two. Blanchard's Wine & Spirits has its own events room, offers seminars, wine classes, and the famous 100+ free wine nights. Gary's Liquors on the VFW Parkway is run by the affable Gary Park, and also offers a fine selection of wine, beer, apertifs and the more. Macy's Wine and Spirits has been well-situated on Centre Street for years and has a loyal customer base…

A West Roxbury restaurant took home the Dedham Patch Best of Readers' Choice award this week.

I live in West Roxbury and have been to West On Center and will never go back! I think the food is horrible, the prices are not reasonable and it;s just not the hottest place in town. I would take my Mom to Legacy Place for a better value, super food items and reasonably priced.   more ›

Poll: Where is the Best Spot for Mother's Day Brunch in West Roxbury?

Mother's Day is on Sunday, May 13, 2012, where is the best place in West Roxbury to take her to brunch?

Mother's Day will be here before you know it, so where are you going to take your mother, grandmother and the rest of the family for a Mother's Day Brunch? Last week's poll asked you where you thought the best florist is in West Roxbury, so you know a couple places where to get her flowers. But where is the best place to bring her so she can get her favorite omelette, a nice cup of coffee, maybe a side order of bacon - and most importantly not need to worry about cleaning up! We'll leave the poll up all week then close voting at 9 a.m. Friday. At noon that day, we'll share your top local pick. In the meantime, you can always go to our Patch Places page and search for local businesses by category, or write reviews and recommendations.

Hello Stefanie - It is an odd list. Porter Cafe does do brunch and Al-Wadi does lunch, which if eaten early some might consider brunch. And yes, Masona Grill was mistakenly left off the list, but good to see people chime in that it serves a good Mother's Day Brunch. I appreciate your help, all of you. Keep the comments and positive suggestions coming.   more ›

There are plenty of options in the neighborhood.  In previous weeks, West Roxbury Patch has asked you where is the place to get the Best Breakfast in the neighborhood? And you chose the Rox Diner. Next we asked, who/what is the best dentist or dental practice and West Roxbury Patch readers chose Jack Rozanski DMD as the best dentist. We wanted to know what you thoughtis the Best Place to Celebrate St. Patrick's Day in West Roxbury - and the Corrib Pub and Restaurant won. The Corrib Pub also won last week's poll asking: What is the most family-friendly restaurant? This week…
