Hi Tony,
You're right. It's constantly a struggle to moderate comments and make sure nothing inappropriate slips through. Prior to December we received a bulk of spam and changed our settings so that we would have to approve all comments to avoid the same situation in the future. The downside is that there's a wait time to get comments posted. We're considering changing it back.

Hi Tony,
I'm sorry you feel your comments aren't being approved quickly enough. Please understand that we manually moderate all comments to avoid inappropriate responses and spam, and approvals are taken care of as soon as possible. However, comments that are posted after normal business hours may not appear until the morning (us Patch editors have to sleep sometime!). Comments will always be addressed within a 24-hour period and usually much sooner, but I realize there are time sensitive issues. If you feel you have a comment that needs immediate approval, please feel free to email me directly at cate.lecuyer@patch.com.
Thanks for your understanding and patience.

On the article Update: Total of 63 Sick, Two Dead After Viral Outbreak at The Redwoods Senior Facility

ReplyThanks everyone for commenting. It's definitely very sad two people died after this, and I'm glad those who were hospitalized are recovering. If the reporting comes across as Dr. Willis sounding dismissive, that's not the case. He was concerned, and that may have been overshadowed by the message that although it can be deadly to the very young, old and fragile, from a public safety standpoint it's not something to panic about. But agreed - not something I'd like to catch. Carol I hope you and your family are feeling better. Redwoods wasn't able to comment so I'm not sure if there's anything anybody can do to help but if something comes up I'll announce it on the site.

Hi Jack,
We have this one real estate column on Mill Valley Patch featuring a different home each week, which we started about a month ago and is very popular among readers. If you ever see anything that's actually posted by a real estate spammer, please let me know.
Happy Holidays!
Cate

Ahem. Please refrain from name calling folks. It violates our policy ... and ruins an otherwise good discussion.
