ReplyThanks Representative Ed Coppinger and Senator Mike Rush for all you do to support the efforts of AgeWell West Roxbury and our seniors. To lose funding to support any of AgeWell's programs would be a huge loss for our seniors and for the community.

ReplyI also am sad about the loss of Imagine That. Anna and Mary Willhite were great business people and even greater friends to the community. Again, they didn't close in 2012 but they, along with Decelle's and Value Village and other long term businesses.,were important businesses in the area that drew customers from far and wide.

ReplyCongratulations, Jim, for the work you do to help the Salvation Army in the community. Since the first year, the West Roxbury Business and Professional Association has been honored to taken a day to "ring the bell" and I don't know anyone who doesn't enjoy doing this good deed. It really makes a difference when neighbor meets neighbor at the red kettle. Jim has managed to organize a successful campaign and he is one of those special people who makes West Roxbury such a great community in which to live and work.

ReplyOne of my dearest friends was the President of the PTA at the school for several years. Her three daughters attended the school. She is just devastated. Over the years I had spent a good deal of time in Newtown and it is just mindboggling that something like this could happen in this sleepy New England town. How do we keep guns out of the hands of the mentally disturbed? How are these children, parents, other family members, school employees, residents of the community and first responders in the community going to deal with this? My heart breaks for all of them.

ReplyGreat article from 2010 that you directed readers to in this article about Bell Ringing for the Salvation Army, David. It is a special thing to do during the holidays. People are always looking for things to do to give back and just about everyone in the world can ring the bell. A wonderful thing to do with family, friends, or business associates.
