Rush Holds Office Hours, Marathon Canvas and More

Here are five things you need to know for Tuesday, Oct. 1.

1. Sen Rush office hours: The federal government may have shut down, but State Senator Mike Rush and the state government are still working. Stop by Rush's Dedham office between 9 and 10 a.m. Tuesday to catch him during office hours. 

2. Thinking of private school for your little one? Mount Alvernia has openings in its Pre-K and kindergarten programs. The Chestnut Hill School has more information for parents on its website.

3. In case you missed it: America has not forgotten when Boston went through back in April, and are making small gestures on very large canvases. The Prayer Canvas project hopes to get messages of love and support from all 50 states by next year's marathon. the finished canvases would be on display at Fenway park.

5. Weather: Expect sunny skies and warm temperatures today. The National Weather Service is calling for a high of 76 degrees on Tuesday. As nice as that is, it should get better Wednesday and Thursdays, with highs reaching into the low to mid-80s.
